Hike Dolly Sods North on June 14th

When:

Saturday, Jun 14, 2008
Contact the Outing Leader for time and rendezvous point

Details:

Dolly Sods North is a candidate for Wilderness designation in the West Virginia Wilderness bill now making its way through Congress. Come and see why! We’ll explore the forest, savanna, streams, and the natural and human history. Dolly Sods North is a high alpine landscape with spectacular scenery, encompassing the headwaters of Red Creek.

Our trail distance is approximately 7 miles. Grades are generally moderate, and this hike rates as leisure for difficulty and moderate for length. We will keep a moderate pace with numerous stops to “smell the roses.”

Dayhiking gear is needed, along with plenty of water, sunscreen, and weather protection. Note that we will cross a couple of streams, and wading is a possibility, so flip-flops, Tevas, etc. are in order. Although the trails are relatively easy, some sections are very wet.
